Israeli Forces Storm Nablus with Armored Convoy, Besiege Old City

Israeli forces carried out a large-scale raid in the West Bank city of Nablus early Tuesday, deploying dozens of armored vehicles and positioning snipers on rooftops. Troops sealed off the Old City, raided shops, and ordered residents to temporarily leave their homes before later allowing them to return.

The operation is the latest in a wave of intensified Israeli incursions across the West Bank since October 2023. According to local health authorities, more than 1,000 Palestinians have been killed and thousands arrested during these raids. Just one day before the Nablus raid, a similar operation in Ramallah left dozens injured, including children and elderly civilians. Other towns such as Hebron and Jenin have also witnessed heavy military actions, including drone strikes, house demolitions, and prolonged sieges.

For many Palestinians, the West Bank has increasingly become a second front of the ongoing conflict, with near-daily raids and mounting civilian casualties. The Palestinian Authority faces growing criticism for its inability to protect its institutions and population amid this escalation.

The raid on Nablus reflects a deepening cycle of violence that leaves civilians trapped between military operations and an uncertain political future.
